1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Pidgin mobile application ("Pidgin," "the App," "our Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Pidgin.
2. Description of Service
Pidgin is a live speech translation application that captures audio from your device's microphone, transcribes it to text, and translates it into your selected target language in real time. The App supports over 40 languages and is available on iOS and Android.
3. Account Registration
You may use Pidgin with an anonymous account or by signing in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Anonymous accounts are tied to your device. If you lose access to your device without first linking a Google or Apple account, your account and any associated usage history cannot be recovered.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
4.1 Plans
Pidgin offers the following plans:

4.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
4.3 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's App Store or Google Play Store settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain access to your plan until then. Refund policies are governed by Apple or Google's respective terms.
4.4 Session Limits
All translation sessions are subject to a 90-minute maximum duration regardless of your subscription plan. Sessions that are backgrounded for more than 5 minutes will be automatically ended.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Pidgin for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, subscription restrictions, or device-level tracking mechanisms
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) to interact with the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Record, transcribe, or translate conversations without the knowledge and consent of all participants
- Use the Service to process content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Pidgin at our discretion if we believe you have violated these Terms.
6. Consent to Record
You are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary consents from any individuals whose speech is captured by Pidgin. Many jurisdictions require all-party consent for audio recording. By using Pidgin, you represent and warrant that you have obtained all legally required consents before recording or translating any conversation.
7. Translation Accuracy
Pidgin uses automated speech recognition and machine translation technology. While we strive for accuracy, translations are provided on an "as-is" basis and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You should not rely on Pidgin for situations where translation errors could result in harm, including but not limited to medical consultations, legal proceedings, emergency communications, or financial transactions.
8. Intellectual Property
Pidgin and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Pidgin and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The content you generate through the Service (your transcriptions and translations) belongs to you.
9. Privacy
Your use of Pidgin is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using Pidgin, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Third-Party Services
Pidgin integrates with third-party services to provide transcription and translation functionality. These services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of any third-party services.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
PIDGIN IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT TRANSLATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PIDGIN AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM: (A) YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE; (B) ANY ERRORS, INACCURACIES, OR OMISSIONS IN TRANSLATIONS; (C) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR DATA; OR (D) ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Pidgin and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights, including recording consent laws.
14. Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Pidgin at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
15. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may delete your account at any time through the App's Settings.
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
